We begin each day with Rocket Math. Students practice with a partner for the first few minutes of our day. Then we take our test. This is a quick way to help students gain automaticity with their basic addition and subtraction facts. It is critical that second graders learn their math facts. The earlier students reach fluency with their basic facts, the easier math will be in later years!
enVision Math
We use enVision Math as our core curriculum. This program consists of a Daily Spiral Review, Interactive Learning, Guided and Independent Practice. In an effort to better differentiate the math curriculum for all learners, I'll be meeting with small groups in math this year. When students are not working with me, they will be completing their calendar binders, working on computers and ipods, and using manipulatives to build number sense.
